Before & After Quick Zygoma Reduction
iWELL’s quick zygoma reduction surgery is an upgraded version of the conventional quick zygoma reduction surgery which served to reduce the size of only the side cheekbones under sedation, and it now involves the use of a safe and effective method that also helps make the 45° cheekbones appear less prominent. Partial osteotomy is performed on the protruding cheekbones and they are then rotated and pushed in to maximize the size reduction effect.

AFTER
Why Choose iWELL’s Quick Zygoma Reduction?
iWELL’s quick zygoma reduction surgery involves making a small incision (2~3cm) in the scalp instead of the mouth to reduce the size of the cheekbones and using titanium plates or absorbable plates to firmly secure the cheekbones in place to ensure safety and effectiveness. Also, a non-fixation (natural fixation) method may be chosen depending on the state of the bone structure and facial contours. In this case, natural adhesion of the bones is induced by the periosteum so as to prevent nonunion.

iWELL’s Quick Zygoma Reduction Surgery

The raspatory and saw developed for the quick zygoma reduction surgery by Dr. Bumjin Park has been patented by KIPO!
(Patent No. 10-1525427, Patent No. 10-1555053, Patent No. 30-0741638)
The surgical instruments (raspatory and saw) developed for iWELL’s unique quick zygoma reduction surgery based on ceaseless research and unparalleled know-how have been patented by KIPO in recognition of their safety and effectiveness.
Quick Zygoma Reduction: Fixation VS Non-Fixation
The quick zygoma reduction surgery is intended to reduce the width of the face and make the face appear smaller and more feminine by ameliorating the uneven appearance in the cheekbone area. The extent to which the cheekbones are pushed inward and the method of securing the cheekbones in place vary depending on the cheekbone type. This is why at iWELL, a plastic surgeon with abundant experience and know-how checks the state of the cheekbones before deciding whether to proceed with the fixation or non-fixation (natural fixation) method.

Fixation Method | • Customized titanium plates of the highest quality are used to fix the cheekbones in place depending on the individual cheekbone type • Absorbable plates, which will naturally dissolve and disappear over time, may be used | • No need for plates as the cheekbones are arranged in a way that induces natural union without any fixing materials • No foreign body sensation, as there are no fixing materials under the skin |
Applications | • The osteotomy site is relatively large • The patient is older and it will be unlikely that the bones will naturally attach to each other through natural fixation • The patient must speak a lot due to his/her job • The patient has a habit of clenching or grinding his/her teeth | • The osteotomy site is average in size • The patient is reluctant to having fixing materials (foreign matter) in his/her body • The patient does not want any fixing materials to be visible during dental examinations or (panorama) X-ray during security checks at the airport |
Duration of Surgery | Approx. 30 minutes | Approx. 15~20 minutes |
Incision Site | Minimal incision in the scalp (not visible)
Effectiveness | Reduction of both the side and 45° cheekbones
Adverse Effects | Little to no adverse effects such as cheek sagging as the skin is not separated from the bone
Recovery Period | Possible to return to everyday routines after 3 to 4 days |

iWELL’s Quick Zygoma Reduction, Effective Even for the 45° Cheekbones

Partial osteotomy is performed on the 45° cheekbone area to minimize sagging of the cheeks.

The side cheekbones are pushed inward through medial rotation and this enhances the effectiveness of reducing the size of the 45° cheekbones.

Optimum results are obtained by firmly fixing (non-fixation method is also possible) the side cheekbones moved in medially.
