Sculpting Facial Contouring

iWELL Plastic Surgery’s
Sculpting Facial Contouring Surgery?

Sculpting Facial Contouring is a trademark of iWELL that emphasizes the incorporation of a new concept of “sculpting” into facial contouring surgery. This approach was inspired by the question of whether the results of forcing in the cheekbones and slimming down the jawline until the nerves are exposed – which had been the common practice in facial contouring – are actually beautiful.
Michelangelo, who is regarded as one of the most brilliant sculptors who ever lived, defined “sculpting” as “removing unnecessary parts.” He was able to foresee the beauty hidden in marble in its raw state and sculpted it into the Pieta, the Statue of David, and many other masterpieces that have been admired for their beauty for hundreds of years.
As mentioned earlier, Sculpting Facial Contouring represents iWELL Plastic Surgery’s pursuit of harmonious and natural-looking beauty while preserving the original functionality as much as possible.
Based on the aesthetic sense gained through research as well as abundant experience in facial contouring surgery, the plastic surgeons at iWELL sculpt the face, instead of just removing or shaving down bones, and create slimmer and smaller faces that look natural and harmonious with the rest of the face.

Sculpting Facial Contouring Technology

Acquisition of Patents on Surgical Instruments for Facial Contouring
At iWELL, we relentlessly perform research to develop new surgical methods and to produce the most satisfying results through safe implementation of facial contouring methods. We have applied for and registered patents with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) for the surgical instruments (raspatory for zygoma reduction and retractor for square jaw surgery that prevents damage to blood vessels and nerves) developed based on our facial contouring specialists’ abundant surgical experience and research. With our excellent technology, we not only ensure safety during facial contouring surgery but also provide satisfying results.
Characteristics of Sculpting Facial Contouring
Beautiful contours are created by assessing the patient’s individual characteristics and bone structure and considering the golden ratio for the face as well as the amount of muscle and fat, skin characteristics, etc.

1. Systematic Analysis
An optimized surgical plan is established based on an in-depth analysis conducted by a skilled plastic surgeon by using high-tech 3D-CT and 3D scanner equipment

2. iWELL’s Unique Surgical Methods
iWELL Plastic Surgery has developed facial contouring tools to produce better results and ensure improved safety, and they have been patented in recognition of their excellence

3. Real Name System (No Ghosting)
A plastic surgeon specializing facial contouring is assigned to each case to follow through with the entire process. We promise transparency and you can rest assured that you will be operated on by the plastic surgeon who provided you with consultation.

Sculpting Facial Contouring That Considers the Golden Ratio

Voluminous & Three-Dimensional
The front cheekbone needs to appear moderately defined for the face to appear smaller and more three-dimensional

Ideal Ratio
1:1:1 has been considered the ideal ratio for the face, but more recently,
the 1:1:0.8 ratio with a smaller jaw and slimmer jawline (V line) is the preferred choice.

Cases of Sculpting Facial Contouring Surgery

3D Zygoma Reduction / Long Curved Square Jaw Reduction /
T-shaped Osteotomy (Chin Pushed In) / Paranasal Augmentation Using Autologous Bone

The above patient has a relatively more prominent bone structure on the left side of her face than the right. To address this issue, 3D zygoma reduction and long curved square jaw reduction surgery was performed to create symmetry between the left and right sides of the face. Also, the bone resected during square jaw reduction was used in paranasal augmentation as a way to prevent foreign body sensation, which had been a problem in the case of using an implant. In addition, to address the protruding mouth, T-shaped osteotomy was performed on the chin and it was pushed in to make the face appear slimmer.

3D Zygoma Reduction/ Long Curved Square Jaw Reduction / Inverted V-shaped Osteotomy (Chin Moved Forward)

The above patient has wide and prominent cheekbones compared to the size of her face, and her chin is relatively wide and short. 3D zygoma reduction and long curved square jaw reduction surgery was performed to create a balance between the facial features and restore symmetry. Also, inverted V-shaped osteotomy was performed on the chin, which was then brought outward to create a face shape that looks harmonious with the rest of the face.

3D Zygoma Reduction/ Long Curved Square Jaw Reduction / T-shaped Osteotomy (Chin Moved Forward)

The above patient was found to have prominent cheekbones and a square jaw, based on the CT scan. 3D zygoma reduction surgery was performed to create symmetry between the left and right cheekbones, and long curved square jaw surgery was performed to remove an appropriate amount of bone in consideration of the patient’s face shape. With respect to the protruding mouth, T-shaped osteotomy was carried out and the chin was brought outward to make it appear longer, which in turn helped make the face look smaller and slimmer overall.

3D Zygoma Reduction/ Long Curved Square Jaw Reduction / T-shaped Osteotomy (Chin Moved Forward)

The above patient had a well-developed lower jaw and a short chin, which resulted in a squarish face shape. Long curved square jaw reduction surgery helped soften the square jaw, and T-shaped osteotomy was performed to elongate the chin.
