Alar Reduction

iWELL Plastic Surgery’s
Alar Reduction Surgery
When the alae of the nose are too wide, it will make the nose appear flatter and the nostrils larger, which can result in an unsophisticated appearance. In this case, alar reduction is performed to reduce the width of the bottom of the nose and to reduce the size of the nostrils, which ultimately helps create an ideal nose that is in balance with the rest of the face.

Methods of Alar Reduction

Alar Tissue Reduction
This procedure is performed if the alae of the nose have thick skin or excess soft tissue. The skin on the bottom part of the nose is resected and sutured as a way to bring the alae closer together. The incision is made along the boundary between the ala and the cheek, making the consequent scar unnoticeable.

Gathering the Nostrils Together
This procedure can be performed if the alae are not too wide and only the base of the nose is wide. A small incision is made at the base of the nostrils and the area between the nostrils is tied together with a special type of thread so as to slim down the nose tip area. A minimal incision is made during surgery so that the resulting scar becomes virtually impossible to see.
Alar Reduction Is Recommended For/To
case 01The nose appears stubby due to wide alae
case 02The nose bridge is high but the nose tip appears wide
case 03The nose looks like an arrowhead because of a drooping nose tip
case 04The shape of the alae is not in harmony with the rest of the face
